Passage helps you prepare a Canadian visitor visa application. A licensed Canadian immigration consultant reviews your file before you submit it yourself through the Government of Canada's portal.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we protect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet our obligations under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Passage is responsible for the personal information in our care, including information handled on our behalf by the service providers we use.
Questions, requests and complaints go to support@passagecanada.com.
From your conversation with us. Your phone number, the display name on your messaging profile, and the messages you send us, including voice messages.
From the questions we ask you. Your name, date of birth, nationality, contact details, address, family details, employment or studies, travel history, travel plans, and the funds available for your trip.
From the documents you provide. Whatever those documents contain. This may include your passport, travel stamps, identity documents, driver's licence, resume, marriage or birth certificates, bank statements and salary slips.
About people connected to your application. Where your application requires it, details of your spouse, children, parents, and any person inviting you to Canada.
About your payment. A record that payment was made and the email address used at checkout. Your card details are handled by our payment processor and are never received or stored by us.
To prepare your visa application, and for no other purpose. Specifically:
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
By using Passage you consent to us collecting and using your information for the purposes above.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by telling us. If you withdraw consent while your application is being prepared, we will not be able to continue preparing it.
Where you give us information about another person, your spouse, your children, your parents, or someone inviting you to Canada, you confirm that you are entitled to provide it for this purpose. Where a person provides their own information to us directly, such as someone inviting you to Canada, this policy applies to them in the same way it applies to you.
This matters enough to state plainly.
Your documents are never sent to a third-party artificial intelligence company. Not to read them, not to check them, not to extract information from them, not to train anything. No outside AI service receives your passport, your bank statements, your identity documents or any other file you give us.
Documents are read and processed by software operating on infrastructure that Passage controls, and by the licensed consultant reviewing your file. The letters and documents prepared for your application are produced the same way.
Documents are uploaded through Passage's own secure pages rather than sent as chat attachments, so they are not stored by the messaging platform you contact us on.
One thing that is different, and we would rather you knew it. So that we can understand what you write to us in ordinary language, and so that voice messages can be turned into text, the messages you send in chat may be processed using automated language tools operated by our service providers. This applies only to what you type or say in the conversation. It does not apply to your documents or to the information taken from them.
We use a small number of established service providers to operate Passage. They provide messaging, payment processing, secure storage, hosting, email and the automated language tools described above. Each of them may access personal information only as needed to perform that service for us, and is bound by contract to protect it and to use it for no other purpose.
Some of these providers operate outside Canada, and your information may be stored or processed outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is in another country, it is subject to that country's laws, and may be accessible to that country's courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.
Passage remains accountable for your information while it is with any service provider we use. We use comparable protection to that which we apply ourselves.
The licensed consultant you choose. They see your complete file, because reviewing it is the service you are paying for. Every time a consultant opens a file, it is recorded.
Passage personnel, where needed to operate the service or to help you with a problem.
Nobody else, unless the law requires it of us, or you ask us to.
Your consultant is regulated by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants and has their own professional obligations, including keeping records of the advice they give you. Those records are held by them under their own obligations.
Your documents and information are encrypted when stored and when transmitted. Access is restricted to those who need it, and access to client files is logged. Our systems are designed so that documents do not pass through third-party services beyond those described in this policy.
No system is perfect, and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above.
Your file, your documents and the record of our conversation are deleted 60 days after your application file is complete, or sooner if you ask us to delete them.
Certain records, such as proof that a payment was made, may be kept longer where the law requires it.
Your consultant's own professional records are kept separately by them, under the College's requirements.
You can ask us at any time to:
Write to support@passagecanada.com. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.
We may need to confirm who you are before acting on a request, so that we do not give your information to somebody else.
Tell us first, at support@passagecanada.com, and we will look into it and reply.
If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
If we change this policy we will post the change here and update the date at the top. Where a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you directly.
Passage does not provide immigration advice. Immigration advice is provided by the licensed Canadian immigration consultant you choose, who is regulated by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants.
